The velobiketours Giro Italy Tour in 2019 will follow the final climatic week. We join the race as it arrives in Como on stage 14, a route that includes the same four finishing climbs as in the October Classic ‘Il Lombardia’. The Giro then heads up into the Alps for a stage that includes both the Passo Gavia and Passo del Mortirolo. The crescendo is three mountainous days in the Dolomites before concluding with an individual time trial in Verona.
Our tour will be an amazing week of action; the atmosphere will be electric, the racing frantic, so why not witness the Giro d’Italia live – the race that always produces the most exciting racing of all three ‘Grand Tours’.

France's gorgeous Cote d'Azur is both the starting and finishing point for this tour; the circular route from Cannes traverses the mighty Alpes-Maritimes, crossing over the highest paved pass in Europe, the Col del la Bonette. We enjoy the Mexican influenced town of Barcelonnette before crossing the Italian border into Piemonte and the historic town of Saluzzo. We explore the Po Valley and Cuneo before hitting the Italian coast to ride the final climbs of Milan – Sanremo, the Cipressa & Poggio as we make our way back through Monaco to Nice. This tour is a mix of high mountains balanced with the rich cultural experiences gained from ancient towns and of course the French and Italian Riviera, thrown in for good measure.

The tour starts in an idyllic lakeside town on Lake Maggiore and over the next four days of riding you will circumnavigate, climb up to and over the northern Italy lakes of Lago d’Orta, Lago Lugano and Lago Como, visiting many of the picturesque towns and villages on route. You will ride a loop through Switzerland and ride the final climbs upon which the Giro Lombardia race is decided, including the Madonna del Ghisallo, which used every year in the race. Moving onto the Italian Alps fabulous climbs, the Gavia, Mortirolo and of course the mighty Passo dello Stelvio with its 48 ‘tornantes’!
